Highlights
- Zen Technologies has secured two contracts totaling ₹289 crore from the Indian Ministry of Defence for upgrading its Anti‑Drone Systems.
- The deals are set for completion within one year and draw from frontline feedback to improve adaptability of hardware and software.
- The contracts reinforce India’s move toward indigenously designed, developed and manufactured (IDDM) defence solutions that provide full sovereignty over system components.
Zen Technologies Limited (NSE:ZENTEC) has been awarded two major contracts by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India totalling ₹289 crore (including GST) for the upgradation of its Anti‑Drone Systems (ADS). The contracts, slated for completion within a year, emphasise the need for indigenously designed, developed and manufactured (IDDM) solutions in the Indian defence ecosystem.
Contracts Reflect Operational Priorities
The awarded projects respond directly to operational feedback from frontline missions such as Operation Sindoor, where evolving drone threats revealed the need for rapid hardware and software adaptation. Zen’s ADS systems, entirely built in‑house, allowed immediate alignment with new Ministry requirements and enabled faster system enhancements than what foreign‑sourced products permit.
Indigenous Control Amid Dual Threats
Global incidents—including the Stuxnet malware and the Pager attack—highlight vulnerabilities in foreign‑component systems and the importance of complete domestic control over hardware and embedded software.
Preparing for Next‑Generation Threats
Drone technology is rapidly evolving: hostile actors are advancing swarming tactics, artificial‑intelligence guidance and stealth capabilities. India’s defence readiness depends on continuous modernisation of systems. With Zen’s ADS platforms, the country gains a flexible solution better suited to anticipate and adapt to future threats.
